More about my hum-drum life...

Well, of late I have had absolutely no profound revelations or thoughts of any kind. I wonder if this lack of creativity/inability to “feel” has anything to do with the 100mgs. of Zoloft I am taking daily. I suppose for the time being this blog will be about the daily wanderings and ramblings that are my life.

Let's see... since my last post... Hubby went on Vacation to the beach for 10 days. I stayed home since I have but a fraction of the vacation time he does.

My Mom came to visit and helped me to organize/decorate my house. We were very Martha Stewart—she made curtains for my bathroom, a valance for over the shower curtain in a coordinating fabric to my comforter set. I bought pillows in the same fabric to match my curtains from Pier 1. She also made curtains for my kitchen and over the sink, she slip-covered a chair for my bedroom and we also made several pillows for the living room. We finally got all three pieces, loveseat, chair, and sofa, of Hubby's black leather furniture in the new town home. Since black leather can be somewhat cold I warmed it up with gold suede pillows, zebra and leopard pillows (made from placemats at Pier 1), red floral and green pillows as well. I painted my lamps to match the gold of the suede pillows and painted my lampshades black. The gold on the lamps is a little bright so I need to "antique" it but other than that everything is coming together nicely.

Also with the help of a co-worker, Mike, we got everything out of the storage unit and moved into the garage. “Everything” is all of my wedding gifts, including 12 place settings of my Lenox Eternal china, 12 highballs, 8 wine goblets, 8 water goblets, and 4 iced tea glasses, in my Lady Anne crystal pattern. I also got 12 plates of my Lenox Butler's Pantry and 8 fruit/pasta bowls, 8 rice bowls, and several serving pieces. I had forgotten everything we received as gifts. We have some beautiful pewter from Wilton Armetale in the "flutes and pearls" pattern that matches the Butler's Pantry quite nicely too. Everything is now in the china cabinet that we brought back from Arkansas back in February. I feel like a "real-live adult" now that I possess "stuff." However, I am beginning to realize that the “stuff” possesses me instead of the other way around.

I was even finally able to get rid of the hodge-podge mish-mash of stainless silverware I had been using since college (1992) and replace it with place settings for 12 of Crescendo by Reed and Barton. I still can't get over the fact that people give you gifts for getting married. Is it just me or does that seem a little strange?

Hubby came home from the beach not feeling well at all. He went to the Doctor a week ago today and was diagnosed with Athsmatic Bronchitis and a Viral infection. He was given plenty of drugs and sent home to rest. He ran a fever of over 101 for five days and Thursday morning at 3:30 am I had to take him to the emergency room. They gave him Albuterol breathing treatments, and an entire bag of fluid since he was dehydrated. They also put him on steroids. His fever finally broke on Friday and so he went to work. We stayed home all weekend and he progressively got worse. By yesterday afternoon his ear was almost completely swollen shut and his throat was quite red so we called and made an emergency appointment with the Doctor for Memorial Day afternoon. This time she gave him another round of antibiotics, pain pills, a different inhaler, and something for his congestion.

He went to work today but he is not feeling much better. I am so worried about him. I cannot do anything for him either... it sucks when your hands are tied.

I joined a gym of sorts. It’s called Curves for Women and I absolutely love it. I try to go 4 times a week and did really well until my Mom came to visit and Hubby got sick. This week I’ll make it 4 times though. In my first month I lost 3.5 lbs. and 6.75 inches without drastically changing my diet. It’s not as fast as I would like but then...unless I could just do a Samantha and wiggle my nose it will never be fast enough. Now, if I could just give up the Heroin chips and Herdez salsa and Margaritas things might progress much more quickly.
